Tottenham must ‘kick on’ under Thomas Frank after Premier League deja vu
Tottenham have made an encouraging start to the season, but there is still work to be done to achieve their ambitions.
In Ange Postecoglou’s first campaign at the helm, the Lilywhites bolted out of the blocks, only to finish fifth and miss out on the Champions League.
Spurs’ most recent win over Brighton was a sign of the character that the players have developed, becoming mentally stronger under Thomas Frank.
Now that Frank has laid the groundwork at Hotspur Way, the North London club must press on to achieve their ambitions.

This story includes exclusive comment from former Premier League midfielder Martin Allen.
Tottenham must push on after solid start to Premier League season
Spurs’ only defeat this season came against Bournemouth and was a reminder that they are not yet the finished article.
In the early games of the campaign, Frank’s side were full of energy and willing to do the hard yards off the ball as well as on it.
While that energy has dipped slightly, Tottenham supporters must be content with the start that their new head coach has made.
- Spurs sit third in the Premier League table
- They are level on points with Arsenal (10)
- Frank won his first Champions League game 1-0 against Villarreal
Now, former Brentford manager, Martin Allen – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has weighed in on their form.
“I’m sure now where they are in the league,” Allen said.
“That they’ll be wanting to say, well, we’re not going to be unhappy with this, because we’ve had this form recently, near the top of the league.
“They’re going to be saying to themselves, regularly, frequently, we need to hold onto this now, and we need to kick on and challenge the top part of the Premier League rather than drifting and fading away.”

Why Spurs supporters can believe in Thomas Frank
When Tottenham played PSG in the UEFA Super Cup final, there were signs that the Lilywhites could challenge Europe’s elite.
Of course, it has not all been straightforward since then, and the last couple of games have shown that there are imperfections in Frank’s team.
However, Spurs look better equipped at both ends of the pitch, and there seems to be a strong balance in defence and attack.
The new signings have improved Tottenham’s play, with Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons already looking like a serious threat.
Furthermore, the development of players like Lucas Bergvall and Djed Spence means that a substantial overhaul is not needed.
While this has all happened within a short space of time, it suggests that Frank is in control of his squad and knows how to get the best out of them.
The big tests will come when Spurs play the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal, but after their convincing victory over Man City, there is cause for optimism at Hotspur Way.
