Tottenham must ‘get on top’ of Everton to avoid Goodison Park ‘hostility’ – Spurs Expert
Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…
John Wenham believes Tottenham must get stuck in early against Everton to prevent the atmosphere becoming a factor on Merseyside.
Spurs will travel to Goodison Park on Saturday 3 February as they look to make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League following a 3-2 victory over Brentford in North London on Wednesday 31 January.
Sean Dyche’s side are without a league win in five and lost their most recent home game as Luton Town claimed a 2-1 victory in the FA Cup (27 January).
With this in mind, Wenham believes Spurs must dictate the tempo of the match.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “This will be a tough game, you can imagine that Everton will be up for that one, going to Goodison Park is not easy.
“Although I say all this, and teams like Luton Town go up there and win. I will never forget a couple of seasons ago when Watford couldn’t beat anyone and went up there and stuck five past them.
“It’s up to us to go there and get on top of them early doors, get a goal and not let the atmosphere come into it too much.
“It will be an interesting one for Richarlison because obviously he left them but when we played them at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier this season, he went around to clap their supporters after the game, and they seem to still really like him.

“I don’t think there will be any hostility toward him, and perhaps that will play into our hands and we can go there and win.”
In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou will be weighing up whether or not to start one midfielder against Everton after his zero per cent display last time out.
