Tottenham must be cautious of ‘threat’ Eberechi Eze poses amid ‘huge’ Crystal Palace injury boost

Tottenham must be wary of the returning Eberechi Eze who can be a “game changer” for Crystal Palace, according to John Wenham.

Spurs will welcome their South London rivals to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday 2 March.

Ange Postecoglou’s side will be looking to bounce back after a 2-1 home defeat against Wolves on Saturday 17 February but find themselves facing off against a new-look Palace side.

Oliver Glasner has taken over at Selhurst Park and got off to a winning start in English football with a 3-0 victory over Burnley on Saturday 24 February.

Ahead of the clash, the Evening Standard have reported (29 February) that Eze is in contention to return against Spurs having returned to full first-team training after three weeks out with a hamstring issue.

In light of this news, Wenham has shared his concern ahead of the weekend.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “Palace have had a complete revitalisation with the new manager coming in although, in all fairness, Glasner couldn’t have had an easier first game in charge.

“Burnley at home down to 10 men from the 35th minute, it could not have been easier, but they still had to get the job done and they did. They managed to score three goals from three different goal scorers, so confidence will be high for them.

“Jordan Ayew seems to have turned a corner at just the right time.

“He has two goals in as many games, so he will also be full of confidence, but the huge news is that Eze is in line to start. He is a complete game changer for Palace and will be a big threat.”

Will Eberechi Eze feature for Crystal Palace against Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

Eze is one of Palace’s star players, and his involvement against Spurs could go a long way in determining the outcome of the match.

Having only just returned to first-team training, there is a good chance that Eze will start on the bench.

However, even as a substitute, the midfielder could still prove to be the difference maker at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 25-year-old scored 10 Premier League goals last season and already has five this year having played just 16 times in England’s top flight.

Postecoglou will hope that the Englishman doesn’t mark his return in style with his sixth league goal of the season when Palace make the trip north of the river.
