Tottenham: Multi-million windfall on table for Spurs amid controversial March update
Ex-Tottenham employee Bryan King believes that £3million will be put on the table for Newcastle and Spurs’ post-season visit to Australia.
Tottenham announced on Monday (18 March) that they would be travelling Down Under shortly after their final Premier League match of the season against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane (19 May).
Their post-season tour of Australia will culminate in a friendly fixture with Newcastle United in Ange Postecoglou’s home city at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Wednesday 22 May.
Daniel Levy will welcome the financial boost this trip brings, and King has speculated just how much that could be.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “This is all about money for Tottenham, it is nothing new, when I was playing we used to go on post-season tours as well.
“I would imagine there will be £3million on the table for the game, split between Newcastle and Spurs, and then another £500,000 up for grabs for the winners of the match.
“It makes it quite an interesting little trip, certainly from a financial point of view. Whether they want to admit to it or not, that is why they’re going, for the money.”
Daniel Levy continues to boost the finances at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Levy has become an expert in recent years when it comes to driving Spurs’ financial growth.
This Australia announcement is just the latest in a line of positive updates from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when it comes to the commercial side of things in North London.
While some of the players might not be best pleased about the thought of a trip to Australia just hours after the conclusion of a gruelling Premier League campaign, it appears that Levy is driving this plan forward anyway.
The Spurs chairman is also at risk of ruffling some feathers in the England camp, but from Spurs’ point of view, this trip can only be a positive thing.

Supporters are also likely to get on board with the idea as well, so long as they see the millions gained reinvested into the squad.
