Tottenham: Morgan Gibbs-White transfer would be welcomed despite £42.5million concern

John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose would welcome the signing of Morgan Gibbs-White at Tottenham, although has expressed some concerns about how much the midfielder could cost.

Spurs are interested in signing Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest, having snapped up the Englishman’s former teammate Brennan Johnson last summer.

The Reds signed the 24-year-old from Wolves almost two years ago now in a deal worth £42.5million (Sky Sports News, 19 August 2022).

Gibbs-White signed a five-year deal at the City Ground, and as a result, Wenham believes the playmaker could cost big money this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham, the founder of reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, said: “He’d be a welcomed addition, the type of player I think Ange Postecoglou would like.

“My only issue is Forest spent a lot to sign him in the first place, and I know they have their struggles financially, but I am sure there will be a club willing to meet their asking price.

“That means you’re looking at another big expensive signing in that midfield role, but I do think he is a good player, and I would certainly be happy if we signed him.”

Could Tottenham sign Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest this summer?

Gibbs-White is a player who could definitely adapt well to Postecoglou’s style of play.

He has managed to score three times and provide six assists in a Forest team struggling at the wrong end of the table, and a move to North London could see him boost those numbers.

His quality and creative flair have been on display for all to see in the Premier League, and there is no doubt that Postecoglou could help Gibbs-White improve.

Ange Postecoglou should look to hand an opportunity to George Feeney at Tottenham next season

However, considering how much it could cost to bring him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Spurs might consider spending their money elsewhere as they aim to build a team which can compete next season.

In other Tottenham news, Wenham believes time is up for one player at the club amid his contract status in North London.
