Tottenham may spend more than expected in January transfer window – Finance Expert
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Tottenham...
Dan Plumley has insisted that Tottenham and Daniel Levy may now spend more than expected in the upcoming January transfer window.
The Sun reported on 16 November that Spurs are not flushed with cash due to the lack of European football this season, so may need to get creative.
The finance expert admitted that pressure from fans and other sources could change the landscape though, with injuries and a better start than expected all playing their part.

“It certainly could,” he exclusively told Tottenham News.
“We’ve seen Tottenham resist those urges, haven’t we in the past, from fans, people telling them they need to spend, they’ve never been a club that conforms to that narrative.
“We know how Daniel Levy operates as a negotiator, but you’ve got a couple of things there in the mix.

“You’ve got the fact they have started very well, the main aim is still the Champions League in the bigger picture, but if you are well set come January time, you’ve got a real short-term decision to make and then overlap that with what is a relatively small squad and nearly half of that being out, you’ve got some key players in that mix, that’s another problem that perhaps you didn’t anticipate.
“There will be pressure points, it’s always interesting with Tottenham as they have played hardball in the past and stuck to their guns, but given where they’re positioned this season, they might be tempted to invest a little bit more than they wanted to in January.”
