Tottenham line up financial boost with ‘high-profile’ Bayern Munich announcement

Daniel Levy looks to have potentially lined up another financial boost at Tottenham after an announcement involving Bayern Munich.

Tottenham and Bayern have exchanged several players in recent seasons.

Harry Kane made the move from North London to Bavaria in August 2023, with Eric Dier following his fellow countryman to the Allianz Arena in January 2024.

Meanwhile, Mathys Tel swapped life in the Bundesliga for the Premier League when he joined Tottenham on a season-long loan from Bayern during the winter transfer window.

However, the latest announcement involving the two clubs is a slightly different one.

Tottenham to face Bayern Munich in Telekom Cup

Kane is set to reunite with Tottenham after the Lilywhites announced on Friday (16 May) that they would be taking on Bayern Munich in pre-season.

The North London club will travel to Germany to take on Vincent Kompany’s side in the Telekom Cup on Thursday, 7 August.

And ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes the winners of the fixture will receive a payment of some sort.

“This is a high-profile pre-season friendly,” King said.

“I’m sure there will be plenty in attendance at the Allianz Arena. It is an interesting game, a great pre-season match for both teams, let’s just hope Tottenham can compete.

“They’re playing for the Telekom Cup, and I’m sure there will be a financial payment to the winners.”

Tottenham will hope for further meetings with Bayern Munich

Kane will no doubt be excited to reunite with some of his former teammates, and this clash could provide a little boost to Spurs’ finances.

However, the North London club will hope this isn’t the last time they’re taking on a team such as Bayern Munich in the near future.

If Ange Postecoglou’s side can qualify for the UEFA Champions League by beating Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final on Wednesday (21 May), they could be set for further showdowns with Bayern over the coming year, and those matches would no doubt be far more lucrative.

Therefore, all the focus in North London right now will be on that showpiece with United in Bilbao.
