Tottenham: Lilywhite Rose wowed by Under-18 star Leo Black after what happened on Friday

John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose believes 18-year-old Tottenham right-back Leo Black is already “too good” for Under-18s football.

Black has enjoyed a fantastic season with Spurs’ Under-18s, playing as an inverted right-back similar to the role Pedro Porro plays for the first team.

He recently signed his first professional contract in North London, and as a result of his excellent form, Black has been rewarded with his first England youth call-up.

Spurs announced via their academy page on X (15 March) that the youngster has been selected to represent England at Under-18 level.

And Wenham believes that Black is destined for big things at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham, the founder of reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, said: “Black is too good for Under-18s football, he needs to become the starting right-back for the Under-21s next season.

“Then the year after that Spurs should be looking at a loan move for him.

“Black is a real talent and he’s developed immensely. He is the most improved player over the last 18 months within the Under-18 setup and Tottenham now need to provide a clear pathway for him to continue that development.”

Could Leo Black become the next big thing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

Black is currently on the right path if he wants to become a main part of Ange Postecoglou’s first team in North London.

The Australian requires full-backs who can bomb forward and play through midfield, two things which Black has demonstrated he is capable of this season.

Black previously played as a midfielder, which has allowed him to transition smoothly into an inverted right-back under Stuart Lewis at Hotspur Way this season.

With this latest international call-up, Black now has the opportunity to show people what he can do on the international stage, which will boost his chances of being noticed by Postecoglou.

In other Tottenham news, Wenham has offered a Champions League prediction at Spurs after what happened this week.
