Tottenham: Lilywhite Rose shares big Alfie Dorrington injury update at Hotspur Way

John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose has revealed that Alfie Dorrington is close to a return from injury, which has come at just the right time for the Tottenham Under-21s.

Earlier this year Alasdair Gold confirmed via his official X account (1 February) that Dorrington was facing six to eight weeks on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury in Spurs’ 1-0 win over Bristol City Under-21s on 30 January.

It saw his chance of a loan move derail, while it also led to a downward spiral in the Under-21s’ form.

In their five games without Dorrington, Spurs’ Under-21s have won just once, having won all of their games against Under-21 opposition this season before the centre-back’s injury.

This demonstrates just how important the 18-year-old is, and Wenham has detailed just how difficult life has been without him for his Spurs teammates.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham, the founder of reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, said: “In January we let go of Brooklyn Lyons-Foster, Ashley Phillips was sent out on loan and Dorrington picked up a long-term injury.

“However, Dorrington is almost back from his injury so that’s fantastic news and his return should see Tottenham Under-21s over the line to win the Premier League 2.

“They’ve had no centre-backs, so it’s not been easy, but they still managed to go to Arsenal Under-21s and secure a 1-1 draw.

“They did lose their first league game of the season to Everton Under-21s, but again, that was down to defensive mistakes that put the goalkeeper in a difficult position.

“However, I would expect that Spurs don’t need that many more wins to secure the top position in the league and Dorrington will help them to get the job done.”

Alfie Dorrington will be keen to remind everyone at Tottenham of his quality

With his team having significantly struggled in his absence, Dorrington now has the chance to make a return and demonstrate to everyone how important he is in North London.

Dorrington has spent some time this season on Ange Postecoglou’s benches in the Premier League, and the Australian will be relieved to see the defender make his return from what was a fairly long-term injury.

It was announced on Friday (15 March) that in addition to Tyrese Hall earning his first England youth call-up, Dorrington has also been selected to represent the Three Lions at Under-19 level.

This suggests that his return could even come within the next few weeks, which will be music to Wayne Burnett’s ears.
