Tottenham: Lilywhite Rose reveals Eberechi Eze transfer info, part-ex deal was once attempted
John Wenham has revealed that Tottenham have previously attempted to make a move for Crystal Palace ace Eberechi Eze amid speculation linking the 25-year-old with a switch to North London.
According to the Independent (29 February), Tottenham are keen to bring in a wide forward as their major signing this summer.
It appears that Daniel Levy is keen to go shopping in the Premier League as Eze and Wolves’ Pedro Neto are their two main transfer targets in that area of the pitch.
Eze is also a target for Manchester City and is likely to cost big money, and Wenham has exclusively revealed that Spurs missed out on the opportunity to sign the Palace man on the cheap.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I’ve always really liked Eze. I know that back in 2019 he was someone Tottenham were interested in when he was with QPR.
“When they did the deal with QPR for Luke Amos I know that they were trying to include Eze in that somehow, but it never really materialised and he went to Palace, so he’s been a long-term target for Tottenham for a while now.”
Could Tottenham sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace this summer?
Eze has burst onto the scene over the past couple of seasons, scoring 10 Premier League goals during the 2022/23 campaign and recently making his debut for England as a substitute during their 4-0 win over Malta (16 June).
It is no surprise that several top clubs are interested in the 25-year-old, and Levy will now be left feeling incredibly frustrated that he missed out on the opportunity to sign him before his big break.

Signing Eze before his emergence at Palace would have represented quite the coup for the Spurs chairman, and it would have certainly saved the club plenty of money this summer if they do decide to bring Eze in.
Competing with the likes of Manchester City in the transfer market is never easy, but Tottenham do have the financial means, and if they want to show some ambition and prove they are willing to back Ange Postecoglou, then they should do everything they can to sign the England international come June.
In other Tottenham news, Wenham believes that one big-money Spurs signing is already finished at the club.
