Tottenham: Lawyer shares ‘alarming’ Fabio Paratici verdict in North London
John Wenham has revealed that Fabio Paratici found the lack of scouting Tottenham were doing around Europe “alarming” while he was at the club.
Paratici resigned as Tottenham’s managing director after he was handed a 30-month ban from football for his role in alleged false accounting at Juventus (The Guardian, 21 April 2023).
His appeal against the punishment was rejected, but elements of the worldwide ban were lifted, which allowed him to continue working with Spurs.
Paratici has therefore been, and continues to be, a big part of Tottenham, and Wenham has detailed the one big thing which he changed in North London.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham, a Litigation Lawyer with over 10 years of experience in the legal field, said: “During Paratici’s time at the club he found it alarming how little Tottenham were doing in terms of scouting outside of the UK and he completely revamped those departments.
“As a result, it doesn’t surprise me that all these talented young players from around Europe now seem to be on our radar.
“We’re seeing it with the signings that we’re making and it is clear that we now have a wider net when it comes to our scouting.”

If it really was Paratici who turned Tottenham’s scouting around, then Postecoglou owes the Italian a big thank you.
Spurs recently completed the signings of Luka Vuskovic from Croatia and Lucas Bergvall from Sweden, two of Europe’s most exciting young talents.
It seems that wouldn’t have been possible without Paratici, and the ex-Tottenham man’s hard work is continuing to pay off, even after he has left the club.
Players such as Dejan Kulusevski, Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie, who were also signed under Paratici’s watch, are now major first-team players in North London, and it is clear that Paratici did plenty more right at Spurs than he did wrong.
