Tottenham issues within medical staff mooted after ’embarrassing’ incident
Tottenham have seen their medical department come under intense scrutiny this season.
Ange Postecoglou has been without the majority of his key first-team players in recent months, which has negatively impacted Spurs’ performances on the pitch.
As a result of the club’s injury crisis, Tottenham underwent a second review of their medical department in less than a year earlier this season, with behind-the-scenes dismissals mooted as a result.
In January, Spurs listed three job openings within the club’s medical department.
Criticism continues to be pointed in the North London club’s direction after a staff member who was adored by Mauricio Pochettino was removed previously by the club, and it seems as though those who remain, aren’t up to the task.
Tottenham issues mooted among medical staff
Tottenham recently submitted plans to improve their medical facilities amid the club’s ongoing injury crisis [Football London].
While some players have begun to return to action, the likes of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Dominic Solanke and Richarlison remain sidelined. Therefore, Tottenham could probably use the extra space in their medical department.
However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes the real problem might lie among the personnel at the club, rather than the facilities.
“I thought they already had superb facilities,” King said.
“Everything is on-site at Tottenham. I think the main problem here is preparation, warming up and warming down. Therefore, I think they need to start looking at personnel.
“Improve the facilities fine, but make sure the personnel are up to scratch too because at the moment it seems like they have some issues in that department. There seem to be too many people doing the same jobs.
“How embarrassing was that when they went to Tamworth? There were only six chairs available for the staff, but Tottenham wanted 20.”
Tottenham must find a way to improve injury record
When players get injured at a football club, supporters tend to blame poor fortune, rather than anyone or anything in particular. However, with the amount of injuries Spurs have suffered this season, it is hard not to be suspicious of what is going on behind the scenes.
Whether or not the problem lies among the personnel or facilities remains to be seen, as Spurs have been seeking to improve both.

However, something needs to change, because Postecoglou cannot afford to continue having the majority of his best players ruled out for prolonged periods.
