Tottenham injury news v AZ Alkmaar: Wilson Odobert update emerges
Tottenham striker Wilson Odobert is very susceptible to a re-injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that as the forward was out of action for four months, it is going to take him a while before he can return to full fitness.
The Frenchman recently started the 1-0 defeat against Manchester City on Wednesday night and played 63 minutes in that game.
Spurs next have a Europa League clash against AZ Alkmaar
Spurs remain in one cup competitions this season – the Europa League – and they will be looking to try and win it.
Their next game is against AZ Alkmaar on 6 March and despite Obodert playing two-thirds of the game against City, he’s not expected to be able to last the full 90 minutes.
Discussing the state of play with Odobert exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, shared his verdict.
“Having been out of action for four months, he is significantly lacking match sharpness,” he said.

“He will need bounce minutes and then a run of games to get close to 100 per cent but he may not truly be close to that until next season.
“The club have been gradually ramping up his minutes but he’s still not ready to play the full 90 minutes and that might take a few more games.“
Prior to the City game, Odobert played three and 16 minutes against Manchester United and Ipswich Town respectively.

Ange Postecoglou needs to make the most of Wilson Odobert at Tottenham
Given Dr Brar’s assessment, it may take a while for Odobert to be back to a 100 per cent but that does not mean Ange Postecoglou cannot get the best out of him.
Against City, he appeared to struggle on the wings so a more central role could be something that suits the Frenchman going forward.
The AZ Alkmaar clash is a relatively easier one and if Postecoglou wants him to regain more match sharpness, he should be starting Odobert in this one.
