Tottenham injury news: Expert issues update on Alejo Veliz post Sevilla loan
Tottenham attacker Alejo Veliz may still be ruled out for a few more weeks, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert has analysed Ange Postecoglou’s comments about his condition before he even left for Spain on loan in January, with the 20-year-old having joined Sevilla on a deal until the end of the season.
At the end of January, the Australian stated that the Argentine was back on the training pitch but is yet to make his debut for his new team.
Discussing the state of play with Veliz exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said: “Ange had claimed he was in a lot of pain before he even left on loan so it’s something that’s been there before his loan move.
“It’s a knee injury which can be quite painful but can also evolve quite quickly.
“He will keep being monitored periodically behind the scenes and it’s only for the club to reveal how far along he is in his recovery.
“We could be looking at days or potentially a few weeks too because these things can evolve quickly.“
Important loan exit?
Despite making eight appearances off the bench for Tottenham this season in the league, he only played a total of 45 minutes but did find the back of the net in a 4-2 defeat to Brighton (28 December).
As a young player, the 20-year-old needs consistent playing time to develop his skills and gain valuable experience.
The loan move to Sevilla offers him the opportunity to receive more first-team minutes in La Liga, which will aid in his development and help him adapt to a higher level of competition.

Hopefully, once he’s back he’ll be ready to be a matchday squad level player for Postecoglou.
