Tottenham in ‘surprise’ Pascal Struijk transfer move as Leeds news emerges

Tottenham have been credited with an interest in Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk.

That is according to a report from TBR Football [14 December], which claims that Spurs are one of the teams closely following the Ducthman’s situation at Elland Road.

Leeds are in talks with Struijk over a brand-new contract, although those talks have yet to prove successful, with Spurs lurking in the background and “definitely” looking to sign a centre-back in January.

However, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson doesn’t believe Struijk is good enough to join Spurs, and Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – agrees with this viewpoint.

“If you were to ask Leeds fans, they probably rate Joe Rodon higher,” Wenham said.

“Tottenham sold Rodon to Leeds because he wasn’t good enough. Therefore, I think that stops that rumours right in its tracks. I can’t see that deal happening at all, I’m surprised he is linked.”

Tottenham to avoid signing Leeds United centre-back Pascal Struijk?

Spurs fans would have every right to be angry if the club were to sign Struijk in January.

With all due respect to the player, he is nowhere near the level the club should be looking at if they want to push on under Ange Postecoglou.

Supporters protested against Daniel Levy and ENIC during the 6-3 Premier League defeat to Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday [22 December].

And if the club were to go and sign Struijk, a Championship-level defender, at a time when they clearly need reinforcements in that area of the pitch, that would only further justify those protests.

In other Tottenham news, the club look to be planning a raid on the EFL amid recent transfer updates.
