Tottenham goalkeeper ‘exit on the cards’ after official contract announcement
Sam Archer recently signed a professional contract with Tottenham, which could open the door for another goalkeeper to leave the club.
While Ange Postecoglou is facing the sack as a result of Spurs’ struggles this season, the future still appears bright in North London, thanks to some of the younger players at the club.
With this in mind, Tottenham have begun to hand out contracts to some of their promising Under-18 talent. Malachi Hardy recently signed a deal at Hotspur Way as he continues to shine in the academy.
This was followed by professional contracts for Jamel Beggs and Ronny Moncur, although it is Archer’s contract which might have the biggest impact behind the scenes.

Archer opens the door for goalkeeper exit at Tottenham
In between the Hardy and Beggs announcements, Spurs confirmed that 18-year-old goalkeeper Archer had signed his first professional deal with Tottenham.
Archer has captained Spurs’ Under-18s this season, while he has also made his debut for the Under-21s.

Therefore, it is a positive step in the right direction that Tottenham have got the young shot-stopper locked into a professional agreement. However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has speculated what this might mean for Aaron Maguire.
“Archer is a really good goalkeeper,” Wenham said.
“He’s vocal, and I expect that he will be the starting goalkeeper for the Under-21s next season. This would allow Luca Gunter and Josh Keeley to continue their development out on loan.
“However, I’m not sure what this means for Maguire. It is my understanding that he is out of contract in June, but he has since established himself as the starting goalkeeper for the Ireland Under-21s.
“I’m not sure if he will get a contract extension, but that is one to watch in the coming weeks at Tottenham, as he could be leaving the club.”
Maguire looks likely to leave Tottenham
Tottenham are well-stocked when it comes to goalkeepers. Guglielmo Vicario, Fraser Forster, Brandon Austin and Antonín Kinský have all featured for the first team this season.
Meanwhile, Keeley is shining out on loan, while Spurs still have Gunter and now Archer, who looks set to be promoted to the Under-21s.
Therefore, it appears as though there might not be room for Maguire – who has been featuring for the Under-21s this season – especially if his contract is expiring in June.
