Tottenham gem Josh Keeley in line for senior international call-up – Spurs Insider

Josh Keeley is making quite the impression on loan from Tottenham with Leyton Orient.

The 21-year-old has been hailed after his “phenomenal” recent form, which has seen him keep seven clean sheets in his last nine League One outings.

As a result of his impressive performances between the sticks this term, a loan move to the Championship might be on the cards for Keeley next season, with QPR tipped as a possible destination.

And according to Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – a senior international call-up might not be far off for the Irish youngster either.

“Keeley is impressing the Republic of Ireland,” King said.

“They’re keeping tabs on him for a possible promotion to the first team at the moment. He is just doing everything right and needs to keep going.

“Hopefully, he can get himself into the League One Team of the Season, secure a move to the Championship next year and then return to Tottenham still in his early twenties with 100-plus senior games under his belt.”

Tottenham gem Josh Keeley to make debut for the Republic of Ireland?

Keeley looks as though he could be a future first-team goalkeeper in North London, especially considering a legend of the club has already been in contact with him.

Therefore, Spurs will be keen to manage the shot-stopper’s development effectively and ensure he has plenty of first-team opportunities, which can be provided through sensible loan moves.

And if Keeley is to be called up to the Republic of Ireland first-team, that can only be a good thing for Ange Postecoglou and Spurs.

Whether or not the Australian will be the man to integrate Keeley into the first team remains to be seen, with the Australian under pressure. However, whoever it is that hands Keeley that opportunity in North London will no doubt have a talented goalkeeper on their hands.
