Tottenham forward Bryan Gil must secure ‘dream’ Brighton loan on Deadline Day – Spurs Expert
Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…
John Wenham hopes Tottenham can convince Bryan Gil to make a “dream” move to Brighton on loan before the January transfer window shuts tonight.
As per Dan Kilpatrick via Standard Sport (1 February), Spurs are happy to let the Spaniard join the Seagulls on a straight loan deal until the end of the season.
Due to a succession of injuries on the south coast, Roberto De Zerbi’s side are keen to boost their options out wide.
However, Gil is reluctant to leave North London as he is happy playing under Ange Postecolgou and there is “no guarantee” he will accept a move.
In light of this news, Wenham believes it would be in the player’s best interest to spend the rest of the season elsewhere.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “This would be a very good move for Tottenham.
“It’s the exact move that we should be looking to make, rather than sending Gil back out on loan to Spain again, which is pointless.
“We know he can do it there. This is a great opportunity to properly see what he can do in the Premier League.
“I probably wouldn’t include any option or obligation to buy because if he goes there and does well, then we would have the opportunity to set the price for him in the summer.
“Additionally, if he was to absolutely smash it, then perhaps Postecoglou would be willing to offer him another chance.

“Brighton have European football as well so there will be lots of opportunities for him to play. This really is a dream move for Gil to move to another Premier League side and actually get some consistent game time.”
In other Tottenham news, the club must sanction a last-minute loan exit for another Spurs forward.
