Tottenham Expert ‘shocked’ as Fabrizio Romano shares latest Radu Dragusin transfer update at Spurs

Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…

John Wenham is “shocked” that Radu Dragusin has decided to sign for Tottenham and believes the north London side are on the verge of completing a signing for a “top player.”

Tottenham found themselves in desperate need of defensive reinforcements heading into the January transfer window.

Injuries and suspensions this season to first-choice duo Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero have exposed the club’s lack of depth in this area of the pitch, with full-backs Ben Davies and Emerson Royal often required to provide cover over the past few months.

Nonetheless, it appears as if Daniel Levy has backed Ange Postecoglou by addressing this issue following Fabrizio Romano’s latest update.

The Itallian journalist has reported via his personal X account (10 January) that Radu Dragusin has completed his medical in north London ahead of a £25.8million switch from Serie A side Genoa.

The 21-year-old will sign a deal with Tottenham valid until June 2029, and Wenham has discussed his delight over the signing of the Romania international.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “This is a huge signing which I just didn’t see coming whatsoever.

“When the reports came in that Bayern Munich had joined the race for him, I have to be brutally honest, I thought Dragusin would pick Munich.

“For me, they are one of the biggest clubs at the moment in world football and for a Romanian international that’s currently playing in Italy, to choose Tottenham over Bayern, I am shocked.

“It seems that he had given his word to Tottenham, and the early interest in the player has seemingly done the deal for us here.

“I know we have Romero and van de Ven, but there’ll still be plenty of golden opportunities for Dragusin to play, make no mistake about that. We should be aiming to have three top-class centre-backs, and I believe that is what we have now.

“Big clubs were interested, and Tottenham have jumped in front of the queue to secure a top player, which is just fantastic.”

In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou could offer one academy gem the chance to shine after he was spotted training with the first team.
