Tottenham expert labels arrival of Radu Dragusin a ‘Fabio Paratici masterstroke’ after Fabrizio Romano update
Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…
John Wenham believes Fabio Paratici’s influence at Tottenham was key in luring Genoa centre-back Radu Dragusin to North London.
As per Fabrizio Romano via his official X account (11 January), Dragusin has completed the formalities of his move to Spurs, with just an announcement of the deal left to be made after the 21-year-old passed his medical.
Once the deal is announced, the Romania international will be the fourth player brought to Spurs who was signed by Paratici at Juventus.
Paratici resigned as Tottenham’s managing director of football last year after his appeal against his ban from football was unsuccessful (The Athletic, 21 April 2023).
Just a few days later he had his ban partially reduced on an appeal by FIFA, which allowed him to continue working in football in some capacity.
As per The Athletic (11 January), although he does not hold an official position at Tottenham anymore, he remains an important figure at Spurs on an ad hoc consultancy basis. The 51-year-old played a big part in the signings of James Maddison and Alejo Veliz this past summer, while previous players he brought to the club such as Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie are now beginning to shine.
With this in mind, Wenham believes that Dragusin could be the latest in a long conveyor belt of success stories for Paratici at Hotspur Way.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I think a couple of things are clear from this Dragusin deal. Of course, we have to offer great credit to those at the club, Daniel Levy, Johan Lange, and Scott Munn.
“Those guys are obviously backing Ange Postecoglou, which is very well deserved because we’ve seen what he’s done already in such a short space of time.

“Having said all of that, this deal to me has all the hallmarks of a Fabio Paratici masterstroke. The fact that it’s a player who he knows from his time at Juventus already, it seems that the pull of Paratici can lead to mysterious things such as players turning down Bayern Munich for Tottenham.”
In other Tottenham news, Wenham has hailed the “remarkable progress” the club has made as Levy sanctioned the sale of one Spurs player overnight.
