Tottenham Expert: Goalkeeper Josh Keeley has a ‘massive future’ at Tottenham

Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…

John Wenham believes Josh Keeley has a “massive future” at Tottenham after the goalkeeper secured a loan switch to National League side Barnet.

Spurs recently announced that the 20-year-old would join up with the Bees on loan for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign (Tottenham Hotspur Official Website, 4 January).

Keeley joined the North London side in 2022 from League of Ireland side St Patrick’s Athletic and has made 30 appearances for the club’s Under-21s so far, keeping five clean sheets in his nine outings this year.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has been thrown straight in at Barnet, starting all three of the club’s fixtures since his arrival, and Wenham believes the loan move will be a really positive step for the player.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I believe he has a massive future at Tottenham, he is a player with lots of potential.

“He is a goalkeeper who suits the modern game, very good with his feet, excellent goal kicks and passing ability, he is always able to pick a teammate out.

“Some people might question whether the National League is a good enough level for him to learn his trade, but for me, any level where a young goalkeeper can get consistent minutes is a good place to be.

“I’m really pleased for him. Hopefully, he does well at Barnet this year and then jumps up a couple of divisions next year.”

In other Tottenham News, Fabio Paratici has recommended the club to sign a Brazillian midfielder playing in the Serie A.
