Tottenham Expert details ‘dream scenario’ as defender Eric Dier is linked with £3.4million transfer
Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…
John Wenham believes selling Eric Dier in January would be a “dream scenario” for Tottenham and would leave those at the club feeling “delighted.”
Dier has six months left on his Spurs deal and looks set to leave the club at some point this year.
Following the arrival of Ange Postecoglou, the 29-year-old has fallen out of favour in north London and will be keen to move on in search of regular first-team football.

The centre-back has made just four appearances in the Premier League this season and could move on from the club this month.
Sky Sports News Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has revealed via his personal X account (10 January) that Dier is one of Bayern Munich’s top targets with a verbal agreement between the two parties already in place.
Although nothing has been finalised, should the deal get across the line then Spurs would receive a fee of £3.4million, and Wenham has detailed his delight at this recent news.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “Getting rid of Dier would be the dream scenario this month.
“He has only got six months left on his deal, so to get him out and get a fee for him would be massive. If rumours are true, he could be sold for £3.4million, which is roughly what Tottenham paid for him when he first joined the club all those years ago.
“I am sure Daniel Levy would be delighted with that. I think he was a player Tottenham were expecting to sit out the season, gather his money and leave for free at the end of the year.

“A move for Dier is therefore great news for Tottenham in terms of continuing this rebuild which is happening at a faster pace than I think the club even expected.”
In other Tottenham news, one 95 per cent Spurs ace could return from injury against Manchester United.
