Tottenham Expert ‘delighted’ with January transfer business as ‘never say never’ update emerges from Sky Sports News
Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…
John Wenham is “delighted” with the business Tottenham have done this month and will still be satisfied even if no more signings arrive on Deadline Day.
Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge provided an update outside Hotspur Way (Sky Sports Premier League, 1 February) suggesting that although you can “never say never”, it appears as if the North London club are finished with their January transfer business.
Spurs brought two players to the club this month, with Radu Dragusin arriving from Genoa while Timo Werner was signed on loan from RB Leipzig.
While some supporters might be disappointed to hear that further additions are now unlikely, Wenham has a more positive outlook on the state of play at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I am delighted with Spurs’ business this month and I’m thoroughly pleased with the direction the rebuild seems to be going in.
“It’s not just about players coming in. If you want to move forward as a club it is also important to get people out the door, and I think we’ve done phenomenally well in that department.
“We have managed to offload Eric Dier, we’ve secured great loans for some of our younger players, and obviously we got our incoming business done early.
“Werner is already making an impact with two Premier League assists to his name and Dragusin is a top centre-back who compliments Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven well.

“This has been one of our best windows for a very long time. No one else has made any significant permanent signings whereas we have gone out and secured some top targets so I am really pleased with the window overall.”
In other Tottenham news, Wenham believes Johan Lange has a “key” involvement in the club’s pursuit of a talented young player.
