Tottenham Expert delighted by ‘phenomenal’ James Maddison injury update at Spurs
Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…
John Wenham believes James Maddison’s return to action will be a “phenomenal” boost for Tottenham.
Maddison has been sidelined since early November after picking up an ankle injury in the 4-1 defeat against Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (6 November).
He had made a fantastic start to life in a Spurs shirt, scoring three times and providing five assists in his first 12 appearances for the club.

It has been more than two months since he last took to the field, and reliable Tottenham-insider Paul O Keefe, who was recently credited by Fabrizio Romano via the Italian journalist’s official X account for his call on Hugo Lloris’ now-confirmed move to LAFC (28 December), has now provided an update on the 27-year-old’s return.
O Keefe detailed via his official X platform (10 January) that the England international “should be in full training next week apparently”.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “We’re talking about a man who was probably the Premier League’s player of the season up until his injury.
“He was contributing massively in every performance and every game in terms of his assists, goals and leadership, so to have him back will be phenomenal.
“If we can get Maddison back in ahead of the FA Cup clash with Manchester City and the league meeting with Brentford, that would be huge.
“Suddenly, we could be going into those games with almost a full-strength team, minus of course the three who are away on international duty.

“With Maddison and Micky van de Ven, we are a completely different prospect.
“It is easy to forget based on the past couple of months that we were blowing teams away in the first 10 games of the season when we had those two fit and firing.”
In other Tottenham news, Wenham has raved about a “fantastic” multi-million agreement confirmed by the club in recent days.
