Tottenham Expert: Ange Postecoglou deserves ‘big credit’ despite ‘diabolical’ recent form

Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…

John Wenham believes Ange Postecoglou deserves “big credit” for managing Tottenham through a very “difficult” period in North London.

The Australian has been without a number of his key players in recent months, with injuries to James Maddison and Micky van de Ven in particular hurting the side.

After an unbeaten start to life in the Premier League during the first 10 games of the season, Spurs have seen a dip in form across the past 11 matches.

However, Wenham believes that the Australian still deserves a special mention for the job that he has done.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “We have to offer big credit to Postecoglou.

“I know that the performances and football haven’t been as beautiful as the first part of the season, the FA Cup game against Burnley was diabolical, and I think we rode our luck against Everton and Bournemouth too, we were incredibly lucky to get six points out of those games.

“We lost down at Brighton, but on another day, we might have gone there and won that game.

“It has been tough for Postecoglou and he deserves praise for managing us through this period where we’ve been missing so many key players.

“I do think when we get our players back, the levels of performance will improve and return to more of what we were seeing in the first half of the season.”
