Tottenham: Doctor reveals Giovani Lo Celso risk ahead of Crystal Palace

Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso is unlikely to start the game against Crystal Palace, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that the Argentina international is lacking match sharpness and is at risk of a fresh setback.

The 27-year-old made his return in the 2-1 defeat against Wolves on 17 February and played just five minutes off the bench.

Discussing the state of play with Lo Celso exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said: “He is severely lacking match fitness and will be more susceptible to re-injury.

He is far from being 100 per cent so I do not see him starting a game until he has a couple of bounce games.

He’s missed nearly six weeks of action with a muscle injury and the club will be careful behind the scenes to ensure he does not exert himself.

Will Lo Celso leave Tottenham in the summer?

In 11 league games this season, Lo Celso has scored two goals and provided as many assists.

Despite his international experience, he is not the first choice for Ange Postecoglou and most of his appearances have come off the bench.

He returned to training in the second week of February and still is some way short of being fully fit.

His contract runs out in the summer of 2025, so if Spurs are to cash in on him, they could capitalise on any interest shown in him come June this year.
