Tottenham defender Ben Davies surgery claim emerges post calf injury
Tottenham defender Ben Davies may require surgery on his calf but it is unlikely as things stand, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert believes that the club will have a clearer idea in the first or second week of June if any further action needs to be taken.
Ange Postecoglou has ruled the Wales international out of the remaining games, and the 31-year-old does seem to be on track for a pre-season return.
Discussing the state of play with Davies’ setback exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said: “Davies has picked up a calf injury and it does appear to be a serious one which has seen Ange ruling out of the remaining games.
“If he gets through rehab appropriately, he should be ready for pre-season and not need surgery.
“It may be too soon to assess and perhaps the first or second week of June will provide a clearer picture as to whether or not a procedure is needed but as of now, it’s unlikely.“
Ben Davies’ versatility has come in handy for Tottenham
The 31-year-old has been a useful utility player for Postecoglou’s side this season, playing in 17 league games.
He has featured at centre-back as well as left-back – with his versatility coming in handy during the club’s injury crisis.
He’s also managed to find the back of the net once in the top flight and he’s been exceptional with his passing with an accuracy of 91.3 per cent this season, according to WhoScored.

Davies has another year left on his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium so fans are likely to see him again next season.
