Tottenham deal to be done for Levy to complete ‘under-the-radar signing’

Tottenham must seal an “under the radar” deal for Abdukodir Khusanov to avoid losing out on signing the defender to another team, Paul Robinson has said.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are weighing up a move for the 20-year-old Lens star [The Telegraph], with Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Ben Davies all on the sidelines with respective injuries.

It is understood that Manchester City are threatening to hijack the deal, as per GiveMeSport, with clubs from all over Europe keeping tabs on the Uzbekistan international.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Robinson said: “It’s imperative that Spurs sign a new defender. Radu Dragusin has not hit the right levels, Archie Gray is not a centre-half, with Ben Davies, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero all sidelined.

“Khusanov is highly touted across Europe, and for £20million, you’re going to get a top-class player. Looking at his international caps, he’s got a lot for his age. But for Tottenham, if Lens are willing to do business, there will be a lot of top European teams at the table trying to get his signature.

“It’s a deal that can be done in January but it’s going to have to be done very cleverly and under the radar. He’s a player who will be attracting interest from all over.”

Tottenham in desperate need of Abdukodir Khusanov transfer

If Radu Dragusin becomes unavailable once again, Postecoglou will be extremely troubled about who to play in his backline, much like he has been for the last few weeks.

Their final back four during the 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United saw Archie Gray partnered with Djed Spence, with Pedro Porro and Sergio Reguilon in the full-back spots.

With Spurs still playing in multiple competitions, it seems vital that Daniel Levy splashes the cash on this 20-year-old centre-back, who has become an important figure in Ligue 1 this season.
