Tottenham: Daniel Levy slammed over unexpected decision after multi-million reveal
John Wenham has slammed the “surprising” decision to hand Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy a £3million bonus as Spurs’ latest financial accounts were revealed.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose doesn’t understand the reasoning behind the decision.
It comes after Spurs published their financial results for the year ending June 30 2023 (Tottenham Hotspur Official Website, 3 April), which revealed that Levy’s salary had gone up from £3.3million to £3.6million, while the 62-year-old was also handed a £3million bonus.
And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – feels that it isn’t just Levy who should be called out.
“Lots of people are struggling across the board, and bills are going up, so it was a bit surprising to see that Levy had been handed this bonus, I’ve got to be honest,” Wenham said.
“I understood him being handed a bonus the year that the stadium was built. That would have been part of the deal he had agreed with people at the club for delivering a world-class venue, so that didn’t shock me.
“But this time around, it did surprise me, and these large-scale bonuses seem to be a theme year after year, and it isn’t just Levy, there are other directors at the club who are also getting bonuses in the millions, and I do find that strange.”

There are sure to be plenty of Spurs supporters thinking the same thing as Wenham.
While ticket prices are increasing, several people associated with the club are pocketing lucrative bonuses, which will no doubt rub supporters the wrong way.
Levy would need to have a pretty good reason as to why he deserves such a hefty bonus if he is to take some of the heat off his back.
