Tottenham: Daniel Levy ready to sanction £15m+ Joe Rodon sale

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy would be willing to sanction the sale of Joe Rodon if he receives an offer upwards of £15million this summer, according to Alan Hutton.

Rodon joined the ranks in North London in 2020 in an initial £11million switch from Swansea City, with the potential to rise to £15million [Sky Sports], but he has only managed to make 24 appearances, spending the majority of his tenure out on loan.

The Wales international has impressed with Leeds United in the Championship this season and Daniel Farke is keen to secure his services permanently come the end of the season, especially if the Whites return to the Premier League.

Hutton doesn’t think the 26-year-old has what it takes to become a regular fixture in Ange Postecoglou’s backline currently but admits that Levy will try to turn a profit on Rodon if he allows him to leave during the summer window.

“They’ll be looking to recoup most of their transfer fee and probably a little bit more,” Hutton told Tottenham News.

“If we’re talking £10million to £15million or upwards, then that’s the sort of figure that would probably get the deal done. His time wasn’t amazing when he was at Tottenham, but he’s obviously a good footballer.

“He’s gone away, shown what he’s capable of by playing football week in and week out. He looks happy, he’s at a huge club in their own right so maybe that’s the best route for him going forward.

“Do I see him breaking into the Tottenham team at this moment in time? No, but because of the way that they play with such a high line, you need to be a top player to play that position in the way that they do.

“It might not suit him at this moment in time, so it could be something that he could look to and think I’m happy where I am. Let’s continue that journey.”

Will Leeds United sign Joe Rodon from Tottenham during the summer transfer window?

Postecoglou has a number of impressive centre-backs at his disposal, with the likes of Micky van de Ven and Critsian Romero impressing pundits and supporters alike this season, while Radu Dragusin is still yet to make his full debut following his January switch.

Rodon may have impressed in Leeds shirt this season, but that doesn’t mean that he is ready to start week in and week out for a team at the top of the Premier League, or potentially in the Champions League.

Whether Spurs will be able to recoup their transfer fee for the Welshman this summer remains to be seen and a lot may rely on what division Leeds are playing their football in next season.
