Tottenham: Daniel Levy backed to make ‘huge statement’ on Ange Postecoglou with Pedro Neto

Signing Pedro Neto would be a “huge statement” of intent by Tottenham to back Ange Postecoglou, according to Paul Robinson.

Spurs are looking to bring in the Wolves star in the summer when he could be available for around £60million, but face competition from the likes of Arsenal [talkSPORT, 14 February].

But Robinson is in no doubt that the club would be right to go all out to win that transfer race, insisting that the 23-year-old is better than all the comparable attackers currently in the squad, including Swedish stand-out Dejan Kulusevski.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News he said: “He’s better than [Timo] Werner. He’s better than [Brennan] Johnson. He’s better than [Giovani] Lo Celso. You could argue that he’d probably play ahead of Kulusevski.

“He wouldn’t play ahead of Sonny [Heung-min] or Richarlison as a striker but he is that next-level player and if Spurs are to go on and are to back Ange then to bring in a player like Neto would be a huge statement.”

Daniel Levy to upgrade on Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson with Tottenham deal for Wolves star?

The likes of Gary Neville might beg to differ when it comes to Kulusevski, with the former Juventus star hailed as on the way to becoming a £100m player by the Sky Sports pundit (16 February).

But the top sides in the Premier League are all after Neto for a reason, and he showed that first-hand as he created Joao Gomes’ Wolves winner at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 17 February.

Postecoglou has arguably already surpassed expectations at Spurs in the post-Harry Kane era to earn the right to strong backing from Daniel Levy, and with the permanent option in Werner’s loan not certain to be activated it would certainly be a strong show of faith in the Australian to instead pull out all the stops for Neto.
