Tottenham: Bigger issue at play after protests against Daniel Levy move
Dan Plumley has mooted bigger problems in football after Tottenham fans protested against what Daniel Levy has done to home tickets at the club.
Spurs fans protested at the home game against Luton on 30 March after the increase in season ticket prices and the decision to remove the concession for new season ticket holders aged 65 and above.
The football finance expert insisted that losing generations of fans is a real risk, not just at Spurs, but the entire Premier League and across the world, with Levy a hard negotiator.
“The fans are obviously right to protest where they see fit,” he exclusively told Tottenham News.
“We’ve not seen Daniel Levy climb down a lot over the years from various negotiation positions so it will be interesting to see if there is any movement on that one.
“We know he is a hard negotiator and a firm businessman so let’s see if that is enough to change his mind. I think the generational fan thing is important, and that’s not just at Spurs, that’s across the league itself.
“There was a report done a couple of years ago by a consultancy firm in this space that basically suggested exactly this, that actually a lot of football clubs have lost a generation of fans in that 18-24 bracket and were now looking much younger at how they engage audiences across the board in terms of social media platforms and how they engage with the club.
“Actually what’s not happening is the next generation of fans coming through for a whole manner of reasons, there are things there that we could look at what’s driving that but it’s on the club’s radars.
“It’s a big issue and clubs are now looking to tackle that head-on.”

Tottenham protests after new developments in Premier League ticketing
Fans have always had a big voice at their clubs, but most of the time they are rarely listened to when it comes to these big decisions, and Levy is no different.
Tottenham have become a revenue-generating machine, but that is not enough if the fans cannot get on board with decisions, something that is threatening to boil over in North London.
