Tottenham beat rival Premier League clubs to ‘exciting’ new signing

John Wenham has expressed his delight after Tottenham beat several Premier League clubs to the signing of George Feeney.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose is looking forward to watching the 16-year-old in action next season.

As reported by Alasdair Gold via Football London (25 June), Spurs are set to announce the arrival of the Glentoran striker.

Feeney will be announced as part of the intake of new academy scholars ahead of next season.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes this was a good bit of business.

“Lots of Premier League clubs wanted to sign him,” Wenham said.

“His dad was Warren Feeney, a professional player. Therefore, he’s come from a good background and education in football.

“I am aware that Spurs did beat out interest from a host of clubs to get that across the line.

“This marks another exciting addition to the club and I’m looking forward to watching him in action next season.”

Will George Feeney become a star at Tottenham under Ange Postecoglou?

Spurs have several talented young players on their books at the moment.

And the arrival of Feeney marks the latest gem for supporters at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to get excited about.

With players such as Will Lankshear, Jamie Donley and Mikey Moore already making waves in the youth ranks at Hotspur Way, the future looks very bright for Tottenham.

As a result of all the talent available to him, Ange Postecoglou might want to consider utilising the UEFA Europa League next season to give these young players a chance.
