Tottenham backed to sign Kevin Zenón, £13m to seal deal amid contract reveal

Bryan King has backed Tottenham to sign Kevin Zenón from Boca Juniors to provide competition for Destiny Udogie.

The ex-Spurs scout believes competition for places is the best thing that a football team can have.

As reported by CaughtOffside (5 November), Spurs are one of several Premier League clubs interested in Zenón, who has a £13million release clause in his Boca Juniors contract.

And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – thinks signing the 23-year-old could be a good move for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

“Competition in a football team is the best thing you can have,” King said.

“If the player is available at that price, and Spurs think he is good enough to come in and push Udogie, then I’d imagine it would be a sensible move.

“However, we will have to wait and see what happens with that.”

Tottenham to sign Kevin Zenón to compete with Destiny Udogie?

Zenón is a versatile left-sided player who can operate in midfield or further back. Therefore, Postecoglou might see him as the perfect player to operate as an inverted left-back.

Finding a player who can do that role effectively isn’t easy. As a result, if Zenón is available for just £13million, and Postecoglou feels as though he is the right choice, Spurs should be all over a deal.

Ben Davies isn’t getting any younger and Udogie desperately needs some competition for his spot, with some of his recent displays drawing criticism. However, with Aston Villa and Newcastle also sniffing around Zenón, a deal won’t be straightforward.
