Tottenham backed to sign Kevin Denkey by former Spurs employee as fresh transfer news emerges

Ex-Tottenham employee Bryan King believes Spurs could benefit from signing Cercle Brugge strike Kevin Denkey amid speculation linking the 23-year-old with a switch to the Premier League.

According to the Sunday People (3 March, page 49), Spurs’ senior scout Tika Musonda is keen on bringing Denkey to North London to play under Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham have made multiple checks on the progress of the Togo international, who is expected to cost somewhere around the £15million mark.

In light of this news, King believes that the addition of Denkey could prove to be a smart one if Spurs were able to get a deal across the line.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “I am sure that move could be very beneficial for both Tottenham and Cercle Brugge.

“It doesn’t matter what league you’re playing in, of course, some leagues are stronger than others, but if you have scored that many goals then you have got to be someone of interest.

“If Tottenham are interested then it could also attract other clubs to take a look at him.

“This would be a good age for him to move, he has done some time in a so-called lesser league and Cercle Brugge are a team that produces good players.

“It will be interesting to see how Denkey finishes the season and if Tottenham can perhaps get a deal wrapped up before the summer if they’re that serious.”

Will Tottenham sign Kevin Denkey to play under Ange Postecoglou?

Denkey might be a player who few Spurs supporters have heard much about, but as the club’s transfer business proved, that means very little.

Players such as Guglielmo Vicario and Micky van de Ven were hardly household names when they arrived at Hotspur Way, but both of them have so far excelled during their time at Tottenham.

Denkey is no stranger to finding the back of the net, currently leading the way in Belgium with 22 goals in 27 Jupiler Pro League matches this season.

Tottenham

It is a respectable scoring rate and after Richarlison’s struggles at times this season, and Son set to turn 32 this summer, signing an out-and-out goalscorer might not be the worst idea for Tottenham.

In other Tottenham news, Daniel Levy’s strategy is clear as the club snap up another “top talent”.
