Tottenham backed to sign ‘excellent’ Loïs Openda from RB Leipzig as Richarlison replacement
John Wenham has claimed that Loïs Openda would be his “top choice” to replace Richarlison at Tottenham.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose was impressed by the forward’s performances in the UEFA Champions League this season.
It comes after reliable Spurs insider Paul O Keefe revealed via X (13 May) that Openda is under consideration as the club searches for a new number nine.
And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has suggested the RB Leipzig forward would be his first choice.
“I watched Openda in the Champions League a couple of times this year and I was impressed,” Wenham said.
“He has a real mix of pace and excellent finishing ability.
“He looks like someone who could also play out wide, so he would be an interesting replacement for Richarlison.
“From the players mentioned by O Keefe, Openda would be my first choice.”
Loïs Openda could shine at Tottenham under Ange Postecoglou
With Richarlison potentially on his way out, Tottenham might require a new number nine.
It is no secret that the club are looking, and Openda could tick all the boxes.
He is only 24 years old and put up some impressive numbers in Germany this season.
Openda scored 24 times in the Bundesliga and four times in the Champions League, and if Spurs were to sign him, he would certainly be an exciting addition.
In other Tottenham news, the club have been encouraged to submit a £50million bid for one Brighton ace.
