Tottenham backed to seal sensational Wissa deal with Brentford before deadline
Tottenham have been credited with an interest in Brentford striker Yoane Wissa.
As reported by Foot Mercato (29 January), Ange Postecoglou’s side have already made contact with Brentford and Wissa himself over a potential transfer.
After Daniel Levy failed to convince Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel to join the club [via Fabrizio Romano, 31 January], Spurs remain in desperate need of a brand new attacker.
As a result, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Wissa would be the perfect addition in North London.
“I really like Wissa,” Wenham said.
“He’s a good age, he’s experienced, and he seems to know where the back of the net is in the Premier League. In addition, he’s one of those players that if we were to sign him, could slot right in.
“There wouldn’t be a settling-in period, none of that nonsense, he would just join the club and hit the ground running straight away. Therefore, I think he is a good player and someone who would seriously improve us in our current situation.
“As a result, I’d be more than happy for Tottenham to sign him.”

Spurs desperately need an attacker after missing out on top target Tels. Therefore, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the club once again look to sign Wissa before 11 pm on Monday 3 February.
Postecoglou is under serious pressure in North London after a string of poor results, with a shocking Ryan Mason update emerging. As a result, the Australian needs all the help he can get.
And Wissa would certainly be a big help, with the 28-year-old having already found the back of the net 11 times in the Premier League this season.
However, whether or not a deal can be agreed remains to be seen.
