Tottenham backed to complete Nico Williams signing after new transfer update

John Wenham believes Tottenham signing Nico Williams is a “no-brainer” after a £42.8million transfer update emerged.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose has piled praise on the 21-year-old Athletic Bilbao forward.

It comes after The Telegraph reported (9 April) that Tottenham are one of several Premier League clubs monitoring Williams, who has a £42.8million buyout clause in his contract.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham Newshas backed Spurs to bring the Spain international to North London.

“His £42.8million buyout clause is incredibly affordable for a team of Tottenham’s financial standing,” Wenham said.

“Williams is a player with immense talent, huge potential and somebody who is starting for Spain and will be looking to go to the Euros this summer.

“In this current market we’re talking about a £60million-plus player, and he is available for just over £40million, so this deal is a no-brainer for me.”

Could Tottenham sign Nico Williams to play under Ange Postecoglou?

Williams is a fast forward with an eye for goal who can play anywhere across the forward line.

That is the exact profile of player which Ange Postecoglou likes, and this is therefore a deal which Spurs should make a priority.

Williams is still incredibly young and has the potential to develop into a world-class talent at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Considering the recent financial success at Spurs, £42.8million shouldn’t put Daniel Levy off.

In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou should hand one 82 per cent Spurs loanee a final chance after what he did on Monday.
