Tottenham backed to appoint Oliver Glasner amid Postecoglou sack latest

Oliver Glasner has received a glowing recommendation to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.

Postecoglou faces arguably the biggest match of his career to date as Spurs take on Eintracht Frankfurt for a place in the UEFA Europa League semi-final at Deutsche Bank Park on Thursday (17 April).

Daniel Levy is expected to sack the Australian if Spurs are dumped out of Europe in Germany.

With this in mind, a host of managers have been tipped as potential replacements, and Crystal Palace supporters might be worried about losing Glasner after what has been said.

Tottenham approach Crystal Palace manager Glasner

Should Postecoglou be sacked, Spurs could look to appoint Thomas Frank or Marco Silva.

However, Glasner has also emerged as an option.

Glasner’s Palace are six points ahead of Postecoglou’s Spurs

As reported by TBR Football (9 April), Tottenham have contacted Glasner’s representatives to see if the 50-year-old would be interested in taking over next season.

Palace want to keep hold of the Austrian. However, he is stalling on signing a new deal amid interest from Tottenham.

And Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – would be a fan of Glasner replacing Postecoglou in North London.

“I quite like Glasner,” Wenham said.

“He has an aura about him, the way he charges around on the touchline, I quite like him. He was flying with Palace last season. I know they made a slow start this season, but they lost some key players. However, since then, he has rebuilt well.

“He has led Palace to an FA Cup semi-final, and he is far more exciting than most names that have been linked. Therefore, he is someone I would be happy for Tottenham to appoint. I think with better players he would excel, and I find him more exciting than Marco Silva or Thomas Frank, to be honest.”

Levy must pick Postecoglou replacement carefully

If Postecoglou is sacked, it would represent yet another failed project in North London.

Since Mauricio Pochettino was relieved of his duties after a largely successful stay in North London, José Mourinho, Nuno Espírito Santo, Antonio Conte and now Postecoglou have all tried and failed to make a mark at Spurs.

As a result, fans are losing patience. Therefore, Levy cannot afford another failure.
