Tottenham backed to appoint Andoni Iraola as Bournemouth decision made

Ange Postecoglou could soon be replaced by Andoni Iraola at Tottenham if he isn’t careful.

Postecoglou is hanging on by a thread in North London and will be desperate for three points in the Premier League against Manchester United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (16 February).

Large-scale protests are planned against Daniel Levy and ENIC ahead of kick-off against the Red Devils as supporters grow increasingly frustrated with Spurs’ current situation.

Therefore, if Postecoglou doesn’t turn things around quickly, Levy could look to replace the Australian.

And should a new manager be needed, Bournemouth boss Iraola will certainly be near the top of the list.

Tottenham backed to appoint Andoni Iraola?

Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King exclusively revealed to Tottenham News that the North London club would need to pay £10million in compensation to appoint Iraola.

As reported by TBR Football (14 February), Bournemouth are keen for Iraola to sign a new contract, although they are yet to open talks with the highly-rated manager.

Iraola has informed the Cherries that he wants to wait before signing a new deal. As a result, this could open the door for Spurs to swoop, and Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – would be keen for the Spaniard to be brought in if Postecoglou is sacked.

“Iraola seems to have that magic touch about him,” Wenham said.

“If you think he lost Dominic Solanke to us in the summer, and his team has somehow carried on improving. He seems like a top coach who is destined for good things.

“Therefore, if Postecoglou was to no longer be the Tottenham manager, Iraola would certainly be at the top of a shortlist of managers that I suggest the club look at.”

Andoni Iraola to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham?

Postecoglou being sacked by Tottenham is a very likely possibility.

Spurs are 14th in the Premier League and have been dumped out of both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, which means they effectively only have the UEFA Europa League left to play for this season.

Therefore, unless Postecoglou leads Spurs to glory in Europe, Iraola might well be receiving a phone call.
