Tottenham attacker Richarlison injury news emerges ahead of Chelsea clash

Tottenham attacker Richarlison may not be ready to start against Chelsea on Thursday (2 May) despite playing against Arsenal, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

Richarlison was not involved at all as Spurs beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 (7 April) and lost 4-0 at Newcastle United (13 April), with injury expert Dr Brar suggesting that he was likely out with a low to medium grade ligament setback in the knee.

The Brazil international featured against the Gunners on Sunday, 28 April, playing 26 minutes off the bench but Dr Brar does not foresee him stepping into the starting XI at Stamford Bridge.

Discussing the state of play with Richarlison’s fitness exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

“Based on the time he was out, it seems a low to medium grade ligament injury in the knee.

He did return to training a few days ago and even came off the bench in the North London derby over the weekend.

That’s a sign that his body responded well to the rehab after three weeks on the sidelines.

He’s still far from being at 100 per cent and he is unlikely to play the 90 minutes for a few games and may not even start the next one.”

Richarlison has improved a lot at Tottenham this season

The 26-year-old has made 17 league starts under Ange Postecoglou and another nine appearances off the bench.

He has bagged 10 goals and provided three assists – showcasing just how much he is able to thrive in an attacker-friendly system.
