Tottenham: Ange Postecoglou tipped to sign another centre-back despite Radu Dragusin transfer
Tottenham are likely to target another centre-back in the summer despite signing Radu Dragusin in January, according to Paul Robinson.
The Romanian was brought in from Genoa for £26.7million [Sky Sports, 12 January] with Ange Postecoglou forced to use Ben Davies and Emerson Royal as a makeshift central partnership, but has yet to see extensive action.
While they are available currently available Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have both been absent for long periods this term, and while Robinson has hailed the emergency stand-ins he still believes the manager will be in the market for a fourth specialist at the end of the season.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News he said: “Davies is a great option to have because he can play as a centre-half as well. But that area, the back for, is something that I think he will look at.
“Dragusin’s a great signing. We haven’t seen anything of him, just coming off the bench, but the partnership of Romero and Van de Ven is clearly his first choice.
“If there is an injury or suspension in that area then Dragusin will come into that. So those three, if you’re going to go through a season, I think he will potentially add another for strength and depth next season.”

Ben Davies has shone for Tottenham in the absence of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero
Although Spurs have put themselves in a stronger position than most to be able to make moves in the transfer market they will still need to prioritise some areas over others.
Centre-back was an obvious need heading into January and was duly addressed with Dragusin, but unless Davies or Royal leave at the end of the season it may be a luxury purchase to sign another centre-back.
However, recent months have proven how a selection crisis can threaten any campaign so if the money is there for Postecoglou he would surely love the extra cover.
In other Tottenham news, there is major concern that Spurs are headed for a “disastrous” blow in the coming months.
