Tottenham and Daniel Levy set for multi-million windfall after events in last 24 hours
John Wenham believes Tottenham will qualify for the UEFA Europa League this season.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose feels that after Manchester United’s 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday (6 May), Ange Postecoglou’s side are unlikely to be caught.
As per UEFA (7 July 2023), teams received £3.1million for qualifying for last season’s Europa League group stage.
And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Spurs will have that financial boost heading their way soon.
“I know there seems to be a lot of negativity around Tottenham at the moment, but I do still think we will finish fifth,” Wenham said.
“After United’s loss at Palace, we’re still six points ahead of them with three games to go, and they still have some difficult games.
“Newcastle and Chelsea are in the running, but I still suspect that Tottenham will do enough and have fifth and Europa League football wrapped up with a game to spare.”
Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou to miss out on the UEFA Champions League
While this will still come as a welcome boost to Daniel Levy after a year out of European competition, it is not as much as Spurs would have received were they to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
At one point this season that outcome looked likely, but after their 4-2 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday (5 May) a top-four finish looks like a distant possibility.

Aston Villa need just three points from their remaining two matches to secure fourth spot, and that is only if Spurs win their remaining three games.
Despite the frustration of missing out on the top four, Levy will still hopefully be able to look forward to the prize money which the Europa League brings.
In other Tottenham news, Levy is to hand Postecoglou an increased transfer budget in North London.
