Tottenham always up for sale as takeover news emerges – Finance Guru

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Tottenham...

Dan Plumley has insisted that Tottenham are one club in the Premier League that has always been up for sale at the right price.

The finance expert admitted that any takeover would likely be worth in the low billions, with the new stadium being followed by deals with the NFL and F1.

It comes after the Evening Standard questioned if Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was looking to buy the club after he rode into London on his mega-yacht [19 December].

“The NFL connection and Spurs’ NFL deal they have means everything joins up,” he exclusively told Tottenham News.

“Going back to answering questions on the finances of Spurs down the years, and actually, they are a very attractive investment proposition.

It’s not cheap, you’re talking they’re going to be one of those clubs that’s in the low billions as an overall valuation because of all the things they’ve done with the finances over the year, with the stadium, the NFL deal, the F1 and the concept of mega-fights they are now looking at hosting in that stadium.

“They are a very interesting investment proposition and you can see the American angle and the investment they’ve got in the Premier League already, it’s attractive and people will, of course, make the links with sights like this, but it carries on the flavour of what we’ve seen in the past five to 10 years and that is a growing American influence in English football.

Spurs have always been one of those clubs that are probably up for sale at the right price at all times, and it stands to reason why people would be looking at them as well.”
