Tottenham accused of ‘gross mismanagement’ and ‘negligence’ as Arsenal seal multi-million signing

Tottenham’s decision-making in recent years could come back to haunt them in the near future.

Thomas Frank expected the club to be active in the final few days of the winter transfer window, but they failed to get any deals done before the deadline.

That was not the case for arch-rivals Arsenal, as they completed a deal to sign Jaden Dixon for £3.25million from Stoke.

That transfer has riled up some people associated with Spurs, who point to a longer pattern of bad decisions from the Lilywhites.

Why have Tottenham been accused of negligence?

John Wenham is furious at the developments, as Dixon used to be in Spurs’ academy but was let go in 2023.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he exploded, saying: “At the time he was not offered a scholarship, he was an England Under-16 international, you have to be pretty good to get into those teams.

“It was bizarre that he was not offered, and not to name names but there were several academy players who were offered instead, who made a grand total of three appearances for the Under-18’s before they were released.

“Another chap was brought in from Manchester City’s academy, all three of them were nowhere near the level, and subsequently Dixon has been sold for £3.25m, having made a handful of appearances for Stoke.

“That is gross mismanagement and negligence, all I can say on that, the bloke who may have had a massive part in making those decisions, was sacked eight to 12 months ago, and we are still feeling the effects from that.

“To have a player who came through your academy move to Arsenal for that figure, it just shows absolutely gross mismanagement.”

Tottenham will be praying that Dixon fails at Arsenal

If Dixon goes on to star for the Gunners’ first-team, it will be pretty embarrassing for those in charge at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He could have become a star at Hotspur Way, if they had believed in his talent and not let him depart for the Championship outfit.

Now, he has the chance to show Spurs that they were wrong, but everyone associated with the N17 outfit will hope that he does not do that.
