Tottenham: ‘Absolute’ Ange Postecoglou pressure verdict shared as Spurs fall further after Aston Villa loss
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…
Ange Postecoglou is “absolutely not” under any pressure at Tottenham despite three straight losses seeing the side fall from top of the Premier League to fifth, according to Paul Robinson.
The Australian’s incredible start to life in England has suffered a significant dip as the first defeat to Chelsea was compounded by Wolves and then Aston Villa.
But Robinson is clear that there is a “reason” for that, with a startling injury list that includes the likes of Micky van de Ven, James Maddison, Rodrigo Bentancur and Richarlison, and the suspended Christian Romero also unavailable [Premier Injuries], so the pundit has categorically thrown his backing behind the manager.

The former Spurs keeper exclusively told Tottenham News: “You look at where they’ve fallen in the league now, and look at the league table to where they’ve dropped, and the amount of points they’ve picked up in the last few games, it’s not in line with how they started the season.
“But absolutely not, there is no pressure whatsoever on Ange because of the way he’s brought that club together, the way they’re playing and the results that they’ve had.
“There is a reason why they haven’t picked up points in recent weeks. Yes, okay, we’re in a results business and you have to win games.
“The performance at Wolves wasn’t quite there. The performance against Villa, you could argue, was there but the result wasn’t. And they’ve got a tough week ahead.”

It would be incredibly harsh to turn on Postecoglou now that results have slipped considering the effect he has had on the club in the opening months of his reign.
But this being the Premier League it probably wouldn’t shock many if the former Celtic man did start taking some heat if points keep going begging.
The excellent run to kick off the campaign, which won him the all three of the first manager of the month awards available to him [Premier League], was always going to suffer a set back eventually and when it arrived it did so with a vengeance.
An end to the slide would be very welcome or else the league standing will start to look ugly, but it is hard to point the finger of blame at Postecoglou too much at this stage considering the difficulties he has been handed.
In other Tottenham news, one exit-linked Spurs man has “mouth-watering opportunities” available to him in the upcoming window.
