Tottenham expert makes ‘very confident’ prediction – ‘it will be a huge step’
Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…
John Wenham is still “very confident” of Tottenham finishing in the top four and has full confidence in Ange Postecoglou to turn the club’s fortunes around.
Postecoglou couldn’t have made a better start to his Premier League career. After ten games in charge, Tottenham were unbeaten, sat top of the league, and the Australian had scooped August, September and October’s Premier League Manager of the Month awards.
Nonetheless, a disastrous game against Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which ended 4-1 to the Blues, left Spurs with a mountain of unexpected problems in the form of injuries to key players and suspensions.

As a result, they lost away at Wolves just a few days later and slipped to fourth in the Premier League. Despite this, Wenham is still feeling confident and has no doubts that Postecoglou is the man to turn this mess around.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I don’t want the recent losses against Chelsea and Wolves to put a downer on everything.
“We just need to get back to winning ways again, and then people will be back on a positive trajectory for the season ahead.
“I’m not too concerned, obviously we’ve had the injuries and they are disappointing, but we went to Wolves, and we were winning that game for 90 minutes with a depleted squad.
“I’ve got full confidence in Ange Postecoglou and the team, I believe we’ll be back.

“I’m still very confident that we will finish in the top four this year, which will be a huge step in the right direction and put us very much ahead of schedule.
“We lost our best player this summer, we’ve had a complete rebuild of the squad, and we are flying high, so I am delighted with Postecoglou and I fully back him to turn this back around.”
In other Tottenham news, one of the club’s standout performers this season recently scored his first international goal.
