Timo Werner transfer certainty emerges after Tottenham news from Fabrizio Romano
Dan Bardell has backed Tottenham Hotspur to complete the signing of Timo Werner on a permanent deal alongside another forward in the summer.
When the German signed for Spurs in January Fabrizio Romano reported (8 January) that a £14.6 million buy option was inserted into the deal.
Although he hasn’t set the Premier League alight upon his return, Bardell believes Werner could be a useful addition signing permanently.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Bardell said: “I think for that price, they’ll probably action it. I can’t see why they wouldn’t. I think they need a centre forward in the summer.
“Werner just gives them that multifunctional player who is so important in the modern-day Premier League. He can play left, he can play up front and as a second striker. I’d be really surprised if they didn’t action that.
“He’s had good and bad games. He’s missed chances and he’s scored a couple but he’s always involved in games.
“Spurs can pen teams further forward because he does provide that pace on the break. For £14 million, I would think that it’s actionable.”
Should Tottenham sign Timo Werner permanently?
Ange Postecoglou has had a tough campaign by way of injuries. This has rarely seen him with a full squad available and the forward line has rotated as a result.
Heung-Min Son has been in great form, according to FotMob, he has scored 17 goals while contributing with a further nine assists.
Richarlison has been ruled out recently and he has contributed to 15 goals of his own [FotMob]. Brennan Johnson has only scored five since his move from Nottingham Forest.
Werner has predominantly operated off the left flank and has grabbed two goals and three assists in that time [FotMob].

Although he hasn’t been involved in as many goals as he may like, he has plugged a gap where injuries left Tottenham light.
For a fee in the region of £14 million there are many options who would cost much more without half the experience he has.
With the current state of the transfer market, this sort of bargain has to be taken advantage of.
