Spurs Expert ‘100% behind’ Daniel Levy multi-million masterplan at Tottenham

Tottenham expert John Wenham is “100 per cent behind” the club’s idea to apply for permission to increase the number of non-football events they can host each year.

Plans recently emerged revealing that Spurs are seeking permission to increase the number of non-football major events they can host at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium each year from 16 to 30.

Since knocking down the old White Hart Lane and building the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in its place, Spurs have hosted several major events such as concerts, NFL matches and boxing events.

Wenham believes that increasing those events will only benefit the club.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I think this was something they probably always had in mind, and they just needed to have a few events first to test the waters, especially some big events like the five nights of Beyonce.

“They needed to see the positives and negatives these events would bring to the local community.

“In all fairness, 30 events is quite a lot, and it could lead to Tottenham hosting significantly more non-football events than football events at the stadium if this goes ahead.

“However, I am 100 per cent behind the idea that the stadium should be full whenever Tottenham Hotspur Football Club don’t need it.

“It generates money for the local economy, more money for the club, and that puts us in a great place, especially with all the controversy surrounding FFP at the moment.”

Daniel Levy continues to generate more money at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Plenty of supporters will have complaints that Tottenham continue to focus more on success off the pitch than they do on it.

However, it is hard to deny that the two go hand in hand. The more revenue that the club generate, the more likely they are to spend in the transfer market.

While some might argue that they want the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to be known for attractive football and plenty of trophies, it is hard to disagree with Wenham that making use of the stadium when it is not needed by the football club is not a bad thing.

As long as the non-football events don’t interfere with the football events, and the club’s fixture schedule remains the priority, then Levy should continue as he pleases.
