Son Heung-min to leave with ‘huge gratitude’ from Tottenham – Exclusive

Son Heung-min faces an uncertain future at Tottenham.

The South Korea star lifted the Europa League title with Spurs, his first trophy with the London club, less than two weeks ago.

However, the 32-year-old could find himself on the chopping block in North London after a miserable campaign on a personal level as the Lilywhites struggled to a 17th-place finish in the Premier League.

Ange Postecoglou’s future in the dugout is yet to be resolved, and Son could follow him out of Hotspur Way.

Son exit could be on the cards at Tottenham

The Tottenham captain has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia this summer and could be allowed to leave if the price is right, according to a bombshell update from The Telegraph (3 June).

Iconic commentator Ian Darke feels that an exit could be a possibility for the South Korean forward in the summer window, but he would leave with the well wishes of everyone.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “You wouldn’t rule that out really, because he is not at the level that he was at when him and Harry Kane were terrorising defences a few years ago.

“He has been a massive and wonderful player for Spurs, a fantastic signing, and I think whenever he does go, it will be with a huge amount of goodwill.

“He is a lovely guy and a very fine player but it might be getting towards that time where, you know, he was not selected, I know he had been unfit in the build-up, in the starting line-up for the Europa League final and maybe there is a little bit of writing on the wall with that.

“When would that have ever happened when he was available anytime in the last eight to 10 years with the club, so I think it is probably getting to that time where you could see he might be on his way.

“It would be with huge gratitude from everybody at Tottenham.”

Tottenham should capitalise on Son interest

The veteran is out of contract next summer, so this is possibly the last chance for Daniel Levy to get a fee for the long-serving N17 star.

The Spurs hero is past his prime and his physical limitations are more apparent than ever which has impacted his ability to have a consistent impact.

Saudi Arabian clubs would be able to offer a huge amount of money that Tottenham may be unable to refuse, as they would be able to reinvest it into the squad for the Champions League next season.
